Clover Apps and a Built-In Gift Card Program
Hundreds of apps in the Clover App Market plus a gift card program built into the platform. Physical cards, digital cards, sold and redeemed on the same system you use for everything else.
The Clover App Market, in Plain English
The Clover App Market is exactly what it sounds like: a marketplace of apps that add features to your Clover system. Some are free, most are between $5 and $50 a month. Categories cover almost everything a small business does outside of taking payment, and you only install what you need.
We will not install everything. Most operations end up running 3 to 5 apps in addition to the core Clover features. The trick is picking the right ones. We will walk through your operation during onboarding and recommend what is actually useful versus what looks shiny in a marketplace listing.
The Categories Most Operations Actually Use
Run a points program, a punch-card replacement, or a tiered membership program. Customers earn rewards on every purchase, and the data feeds your customer database so you can see who your regulars actually are.
For restaurants and quick-service, the Clover App Market includes first-party online ordering tools (your own branded ordering page) plus integrations with delivery platforms. All orders feed into the same Clover system as your in-person sales.
For restaurants, apps like OpenTable and SevenRooms integrate with Clover so reservations, walk-ins, and the waitlist all live alongside your sales data. Cover counts and table turn times feed your reporting.
Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and SMS marketing tools tap into your Clover customer database. Send campaigns, build segments based on purchase history, and measure results with sales data attribution.
For operations that want deeper analytics than Clover's built-in reports, a few apps add advanced dashboards, multi-location consolidated reporting, and integrations into business intelligence tools. Most operations do not need this until they hit a certain size.

The Gift Card Program
Clover ships with a gift card program built into the platform. You sell, load, and redeem gift cards on the same Clover device you use for every other transaction. Here is the short version.
Physical and digital, on the same system. Order custom-branded plastic gift cards (or use Clover's stock cards), and offer digital gift cards through email or a customer-facing site. Both run off the same balance and the same reporting.
Sold and redeemed on Clover. A customer buying a gift card uses the same Clover terminal as any other transaction. Loading and redeeming happens automatically. No separate gift card terminal, no separate balance system, no third-party service to log into.
Tracked in your reporting. Outstanding gift card liability shows in your reports. Redemptions show as their own category. End-of-month, end-of-year, and tax-time reporting all reflect the program correctly.
A real revenue lever. Gift card sales are well-documented to lift annual revenue 5 to 10 percent for most retail and restaurant operations, and breakage (cards that never get fully redeemed) is real money. Clover charges a processing fee of approximately 2 percent on every gift card transaction, and we will walk you through how it works during setup so there are no surprises later.

Custom-Branded Gift Cards
We will help you order custom-branded physical gift cards through Clover's print partner. You provide the design (or your designer does), Clover prints them, and they ship to your business pre-loaded into the system. Setup takes about two weeks from approval to delivery. Reorders are faster.
If you do not need physical cards (most restaurants prefer digital, most retail still wants both), the digital-only program is up and running on day one with zero print costs. For more on how we wire everything up during install, see our integrations page.
Common Questions About Clover Apps and Gift Cards
The core gift card program is included with Clover and runs on the standard processing rates. Custom-branded physical cards have a one-time print cost (typically a few dollars per card depending on quantity). Digital cards have no print cost. We will quote the print run during setup so you know what it costs before you order.
